My house is clean….

100_19803

Ok I just had to post this picture first. I was at the computer the other day and Kyboo was really quite and Mason and I went and looked and she to my horror had climbed up on the chair and then the table and was rummaging around in Mason’s play dough. She of course thought she was the cat’s meow so I had to take a picture then quickly got her down and moved the chair. =-)

So I have been tweeting about how not clean my house has been lately.  I just have not been in the mood to clean, and it was just a huge disaster zone. I don’t think I have ever seen so many crumbs on floor. Yeah I know that’s nasty  but, it’s the truth.   So I promised… PROMISED my husband that the house would be clean when he got home yesterday. The dear man had had enough.  So I put it off almost all day and FINALLY got around to starting on it around 3: 30 and he gets home at 5 ahhh. But I got it done.

So to encourage myself and hopefully to keep from letting it get this bad again. I took before and after pictures. I am to embarressed to post the before pictures…..I haven’t decided yet if I will. But I did take after pictures. I could post those but they are not as interesting without seeing the before pictures.  Ok I will be brave and show  you my little nest.

These are the before:

I do have to say it was nice to wake up to a clean house. And we have not trashed it … yet… =_)

Do people really care?

pastedgraphicWhy do people blog? I am sure that people who do not blog wonder why? I for the longest times was just a reader of blogs. I personally thought it was interesting to see a snap shot into someone else’s daily life. I think people are strangely transparent  when they blog maybe because they don’t really see the  people or readers who they are writing too. Or if you are like me and just starting a blog you are not afraid for people to read it because you really don’t have a following.=-)

I dont’ know why other people start to blog, but I can tell you why I started.  When I quit my job in April of 2008 I was really lonely. I mean I was used to being around adults all day and I worked with my very good friend. We sat by each other and ate lunch together every day and when you go from that to being around a 2 year old and a 5 month old well frankly put you want to blow your brains out sometimes.  You go from having  mostly stimulating adult conversations about kids, your husband, the economy, politics I mean everything to conversations that consist of which is your favortie Wiggle, what color you like the best to well … you are talking to a 2 year old. And  your husband just never quite understands why you are like “oh yes another adult I can talk to”.  He is really not that interested in your day of dirty diapers, dirty dishes (because they seem to never end) and snotty noses. He has put in his 8 hours and wants to come home and relax and you feel like climbing the walls because the kids are a. driving you crazy or b. you have not been out of the house all day because sometimes with two especially when one is a baby was just to darn hard.  I know I am not the only one to feel this way so I started to blog about it.  If nothing else it was a way for me to get my thoughts and frustrations out and down  not on paper but online. And if anyone cares to read it then great.

So I blogged for a while but then just quit doing it, but I have started back up recently and I have really enjoyed it. Come to find out I really had no clue there were so many mommy blogs out there.   Stay at home moms or working moms that are just like me and understand exactly what I am going through. It’s so nice to read what other mothers post and to feel like you are not the only stressed out crazy mom.  Because no matter what foot we put forward in public our kids drive us nuts. We love them but sometimes… well if your are a mom you know exactly what I am talking about.  We love em to death but they have a way of finding that one last nerve and just jumping all over it.

As far as people really caring what you have to say I think in the end they do. It lets them know they are not alone they can share thoughts and ideas and even love. I think this has really been demonstrated by the online out pouring of love for Heather Spohr and her husband Mike Spohr over their beautiful daughter Maddie’s passing.  I for one have been touched and humbled by their willingness to openly share their joy in Maddie’s life with their fellow bloggers and the world.  Heather’s post today made me cry and I just prayed for her and her family. It has made me hold my own Chickens a little tighter. And to be thankful for them in all their craziness.

What do you do all day anyway?

img_06592

img_06422

Ok so these are so the words I know I mean I know  my husband thinks probably every day when he comes home.  I have only been a stay at home mom  for a year this April. But I am sure he envisioned it being so

me what different. I know he enjoys not having to take the Chickens to daycare anymore ( he would take them and  I would pick them up) this required him to get up early and help get the kids dressed in the morning etc.  And now he can just get up and be out the door in 15 min. Darn men and their ability to do that.  But I know he was thinking that maybe the house would be a bit cleaner and supper might be a little more planned and probably on time too. Because when he came home yesterday seriously his face was priceless and I had even warned him the house looked like it threw up.  I said  “I told you” he said “I know you weren’t kidding.”

So I will tell you how yesterday was at the Moffett household it was a typical day.  So we got up well.. not early… I am a huge night owl and a huge sleeper in so therefore I have made my kids the same way. They go to bimg_06691ed between 8 and 9 so it usually ends up being 9:30 or 10 I know aweful but really by the time you get them dressed, teeth brushed and story read it can really take a lot of time. But I digress ew big word but we got up around 9 well that is we woke up and then we all laid in bed watching cartoons until around 10. So then I got up and got on my computer and checked Facebook and Twitter my new obsession and maybe right a post.  The kids usually end up climbing on top of me while I do this and Kyboo always  ends up in my lap.. Then I got a shower which is never quick because you always get interrupted “hey mommy what are you doing”" Kyra hit me” etc. Kyra is crying about something. I know you moms understand that you never have a moment to yourself unless you are in the shower and not always then either. So by the time I got dressed and got the Chickens dressed it was 11:30  and I decided since it was sooo beautiful outside we should go to the park. So we went to one of our wonderful local parks Herdklotz  run by the Greenville Recreation Disctrict it’s a great park anyway  the kids played.. There were a lot of other moms in the little baby fenced in park you know the kind of moms who are the size of a pencil after they have had 3 kids and are so preppy looking and their kids only wear gap clothes and they drive enormious SUV’s that can seat like 10 people?  I am not one of those moms.  So Mason is 3 and really likes the “big” playground and since it was less crowded  we ventured up there  which was actually a big deal for me  because the big playground has always scared me with Mason it has the big slides that are really high off the ground. But it was fun Kyra just walked around and Mason did some stuff on there I did not know he was big enough to do and I realized how big my baby is getting.img_06731

So then we were hungry and decided to head over to The Purple Kitchen my sister’s cafe.   She serves  absolutely the  best Chicken Salad in Greenville and Mason loves it because Aunt Dana is a personal favorite of his and she also make great cupcakes and  cakes. So we went there and had a very yummy lunch and of course dessert. Then we went to Walmart we were out of the neccessary stuff like toilet paper and diapers. We also had to get a birthday present for a friend. Mason was invited to his first birthday party… well his first non family birthday party because he has a million cousins. So he was very excited to pick out the birthday present for his friend Adia. Kids so do not understand the price of things because he was picking out all the really expensive toys at least he wants to be generious. =_)  So then I made the mistake and went to the clothes section the little girl clothes section anyway I will gloss over  that and just say we ended up with a few cute outfits and a new pair of shoes for one Kyboo. And most of the clothes and the shoes were purple. =-) Then we bought bubble swords yeah they did not have neat things like this when I was a kid. These long sword shaped things filled with  bubbles.  So we take all of our loot home and it’s about 3:30 by this time. Which would of been a great time for me to clean the house and put the kids down for a quick nap. But nope we head outside to the front yard to blow bubbles then dropped by the pool to cool our feet before we went inside. That was fun… Mason wanted to know why it was so messy he is a bit of a neat freak but he had fun.   Then my 16 year old nephew came over to put some music  on his itouch and he stayed for a while… We chatted while he downloaded some stuff and the kids just crawled all over. Mason LOVES Justin and was talking to him and crawling up in his lap. And that is how Ben found us when he came home at six. The house trashed and us just lounging around like I said the look on his face was priceless and I knew he was thinking that line “What do you do all day anyway?

So my reply to him is we had fun we made some fun memories and I will try and at least have the kitchen clean tomorrow.    Speaking of which guess I better get ready for that birthday party this afternoon. Maybe I will have time to work on the kitchen after the party before he gets home ….. =-)

If you live in Greenville, SC and are interested in the Purple Kitchen the link is:

Hugh Jackman, Twitter and Maddie Spohr

It’s been a bit of a rough week and a rough day but I wanted to post something really quick today.  As many of you know I have been deeply touched by the passing of Maddie Spohr and have felt burdened for her family. I know I don’t personally know Mike and Heather Spoh but I have  been deeply touched by them both and of course by Maddie. It’s funny how you can feel like you get to know someone by reading their blog but that is how I have felt about this family. And I know that many of you have felt the same way. I see it on Twitter how there has been such an outpouring of love and support for this family.. I am new to Twitter and this has been really neat to see.

One thing that has happened in Twitterdom is that Hugh Jackman has said that he will donate 100k to one individual’s non profit charity, but he has to be convinced via Twitter. He is going to announce on the Ryan Seacrest show this Friday which charity he has chosen. Of course we would all love for him to choose March of Dimes in memory of Maddie. So Twitter has been alive with Retweets to @RealHughJackman for him to donate to March of Dimes.  We only have one more day left to try and convince him to donate in honor of Maddie Spohr please if you have a Twitter account  Retweet the following message:

RT @mamaspohr: RT @RealHughJackman PLEASE donate your $100k to March of Dimes in honor of my baby #Maddie http://tinyurl.com/dnewtk

Or click on the link below to read all about it…

http://www.marchformaddie.com/

I know if we retweet Hugh Jackman enough that he will donate this money to March of Dimes… and just think how uplifting this will be for Mike and Heather Spohr during this difficult time they are going through. This gives them something to push for in honor of Maddie so other families don’t have to go through what they have had to go through.  Please read the blog below it is very touching and shows how much this means to Heather and Mike Spohr

My little Boo

100_19609

I love both of my children or Chickens as I call them very much… My oldest  Mason is 3 and of course a boy…And when he was born he was the Sun and the Moon and I never wanted a girl. I just wanted boys because  I could not imagine loving a girl like I did my boy. He was SUCH a boy and that is all I knew.  So when we were trying for Chicken number 2.. I of course wanted a boy.  My husband Ben who did my beautiful site was adament he wanted a girl. I was not so crazy about the idea, girls were full of drama and high maintenance and well not boys, but I had this weird feeling it was going to be a girl anyway, and I was right.. I honestly could not of been more excited when we knew for sure it was going to be a girl it’s funny you always end up wanting what you get. I still could not imagine loving her as much as my Chicken Mason , but when she was finally here I could not love her anymore then I do.

I am not sure if it’s just because she is a girl or just because she is the baby or what but I love my little girl like nothing else. Yes her age is sweet she is 17 months old birthday November 9th, 2007 but we just have this connection. She is my little side kick  and such a girl.. we seem to have this special bond. She is on my lap right now as I type this turning my iPhone on and off, on and off. It does not take much to make her happy, but she is curious about everything right now and tries to copy whatever you do and whatever her older brother does. Her name is Kyra but we call her Chicken,  Kyboo and Boo Boo.. we all dote on her and Ben said last night she is just so hard to dicipline because she is So darn cute!

Which brings me to why in a part I have felt so touched by the loss of Maddie Spohr. Not only was she beautiful and full of life, but she was only two days younger then Kyboo her birthday is November 11th, 2007. That made it more personal somehow because I could not imagine losing my Kyboo. To think that when I was bringing my baby home all healthy and perfect at the same time Maddie was fighting for her life and Heather and Mike Spohr were having to visit their baby in the hospital.

So I can’t even begin to imagine what it must be like for Heather and Mike  Spohr right now. I know they have lots of attention right now from the whole internet community and I am so glad that Maddie has been so remembered and loved and that they have gotten so many donations to March of Dimes. But I hope that after time passes that people don’t forget about them. I hope they will continue to receive messages of hope and love for months and years to come. I hope they will never feel alone.. I for one will continue to rememeber Maddie Moo for the months and years to come and continue to pray and send love and encouragement to Heather and Mike Spohr for the years to come.  Because whenever I look at Kyboo I will remember Maddie….

Wow my hats off to mom’s with 4 kids or more.

So I had to go get my nieces this morning more on that later.  And I have mucho respect for mom’s that have 4 kids. I am honestly slap wore out tired, and these are really good kids too. Ages, 12 soon to be 13 year old girl, her 8 year old sister and Mason 3 and Kyboo 1. Woo it’s like I felt that I got lunch ready , cleaned up then got dinner ready. And it was just sandwiches and pizza( homemade yummy pizza though so I do give myself a pat on the back) but the whole time they were all except the oldest so is it done yet? What about now? And Kyra just would go and lean her head against the stove and stare longingly at he baking pizza. I was not trying to starve these kids but it takes a long time to cook from scratch.

We went to see a movie too and that was fun Monsters vs Aliens in 3D. Kyboo had to make due with my sunglasses because she got in the movie free. But she decided to say “Mommy, Mommy!” really loud but thankfully she fell asleep. It was fun but it was tiring, the 3d glasses do funny things to your eyes and after being in a dark theater for almost 2 hours you just want to take a nap especially on a Sunday afternoon. But no I had to go home and feed this crew with my wonderful husband included I had 5 kids LOL. But it was fun, tiring, but fun.And I actually managed to get all 4 down to bed.

I have to get up and take the girls to school tomorrow they have to leave at like 7:15 which means I have to get up and get ready too .. At 6 ahh I never get up that early…8 to me is early anymore. Guess I should really enjoy these years when the Chickens are not in school. Because I am tired already! So to you moms out there who get up early and take your kids to school and who have more then 2 my hats off to you.

P.S. Sorry for this hair brain post I made it at 11:30 at night in the waiting room at the hospital on my iPhone. I will update later on this.

Pecans anyone?

So we got up and decided to get out today. It’s so beautiful a little windy and nippy but still nice.

So we put a coat on Kyboo, Chicken said he did not need one and went out for a little walk. We were headed to beside the little lake behind the Mill where we live. There is tons of pecans on the ground we got some yesterday and decided to pick up some more.

Aunt Bekah gave me a yummy recipe for candied pecans and I really want to try it out. I think I have enough pecans now. So we set out with our Easter Baskets I thought this would be the easiest way to pick them up and we got quite a few.

So hopefully I will get to making some candied pecans this afternoon. =-)
