Daddy is 2…

IMG_0620

Mason and I sang Happy Birthday to Boo the morning of her actual birthday and yes we had birthday cake for breakfast.

So Kyra turned two this past Monday…and if you ask her how old she is she will say “two.”  But now she thinks everyone is “two”. So we had this interesting conversation at breakfast the other day….

I asked her how old she was and she said, “two.” Then I asked her how old is daddy and she said “two”.. This is when Mason chimed in, ” No, Kyra, Daddy is not two he is three.” He said this with confidence.  I told him that Daddy wasn’t three so Mason questioned, ” Is he four mommy? Or is he five?”

Ah to be young again… =-)

Shoes….. Wordless Wednesday..

Kyra has thing about shoes she loves to wear them and she loves to try them on. It does not matter if they are Mason’s shoes, Daddy’s shoes or Mommy’s shoes she tries them all on.  We go down the shoe aisle at a store and she starts trying to pull her shoes off so she can try on new ones.  Needless to say moving into a larger house she can easily lose one shoe and she is at the age when you ask her where the missing one is she goes” don’t know” which is not a huge help especially if you are trying to rush out the door and your child only has one shoe on.

Anyway I keep a pair of flip flops by the front door that I use if I have to go in the front yard or when I get the mail.  I came around the corner the other night and saw this……

Kyboo's shoes

she had put her shoes with mommy’s shoes.  For me this was an ahhh moment so much so that I took a picture of it. Sappy I know but very sweet too. =-)

Trick or Treat

Batman and the Princess

Well this year we took  Batman and a Princess trick or treating.  It was quite exciting this year we got caught in the rain.  It had cleared up nicely when we set out but a little half way through it started to rain and I don’t mean a drizzle. But the kids were troopers and did not seem to mind… the need for candy was a huge driving force.  Even Boo had no interest in riding in the car with daddy as he followed us around from house to house.  He opened the tail gate on the jeep and let all the cousins pile in between stops.  The saying must be true “the more the merrier”  because we sure had fun with all the cousins that were able to come. There were six in all Reed, Abbi, Madison, Ansley, Hallah and Katie.  I know the Chickens greatly enjoyed the company.

The process of picking out costumes this year was a little bit of an adventure too. First Mason was going to be a Fireman he already had the costume from a dress up birthday party he had been invited to, but then he got it into his head that he was definitely going to be Batman. We spent quite a bit of time trying to convince him of the coolness factor of a fireman but firemen don’t wear capes and I think that was a big factor playing in his desire to be Batman. So of course being the spoiled chicken that he is we began our search for a Batman costume. This must of been a very popular costume this year  because every store we looked in did not have it in his size.  But we finally found one after much searching at Walmart and it was the last one. After we got home and tried it on it was a bit big so I had to practically take it apart and then put it back together again just to make it fit properly… ah the things we do for our kids.  I remember my mom spending hours on one costume when I was little and now I especially appreciate the time she put into it.  But the end result looked great and he was so excited and that made it all worth it.  And besides Batman has been more then generous with his Halloween loot!
