“My tummy hurts”

By on Saturday, February 20, 2010 in Honest blogging., Kyboo

Since last night was the start of the weekend we decided to do some running around and catch a quick bite to eat. We don’t eat out much ever since going down to one income so I could be at home full time we have cut way back on the eating out. But since it was Friday night we thought what the hey. So we threw everyone in the car and we were off. We decided to eat fast food because the Chickens were craving french fries…BIG MISTAKE.  I think I may never eat fast food again… Boo started grabbing her tummy during supper and saying ” my tummy hurts” but then she kept eating. I kept asking her if she was ok and she would say, “yes”  then say, ” my tummy hurts” typical 2 year old answers.  I thought maybe she had eaten to fast and that it would pass sometimes she will say her tummy hurts because she is hungry. But she kept grabbing at her little tummy and that is odd.  Boo is pretty tough when she falls down she rarely cries for long and takes bumps and bruises far better then her 4 year brother she is a tough little thing. So as the night progressed she started complaining more and more and by the time we got home she was grabbing her stomach and screaming I mean screaming, ” My tummy hurts my tummy hurts.”

I was freaking out by this time so I sent Ben to the store to get something anything to help, called my mom frantically and twittered asking what to do? My mom suggested Pepto Bismal and told me to have Ben ask the pharmacist. He told Ben to try Mylicon  he seemed to think it could be gas pains so he got that and child Pepto Bismal.  By the time Ben got home she had calmed down a lot but we still gave her the Pepto Bismal and Mylicon and both seemed to help pretty quickly.

This was Boo coloring shortly after daddy got home. Feeling much better.

I was so thankful that this episode passed fairly quickly because it scared me. Boo has never had this reaction to anything before and you never want to see your child in pain.  I want to thank  @flygirllovexxx and @GAFlygirl for their words of encouragement on twitter.  They both seemed to nail it as being gas it was nice to know I was not alone and to get advice so quickly. So I think the moral of the story is we will be avoiding fast food restaurants in the near future, keeping the  Mylicon handy and twitter any questions. =-)

  1. Gotta love the twitters for their quick and useful help, right? I don’t know what I’d do without ‘em. Glad it was just gas and she is feeling better.
