Just call me crafty…

I have learned when you have a dog and a cat that sometimes your rugs need a little more TLC then just vacuuming. My dining rug especially needed a little something. It’s where Leighton likes to hang out a lot. The rug was starting to smell a little doggy. I know Febreeze is supposed to work great but in my current mode of trying to make everything from scratch I can I decided to google and see if I could find a homemade carpet freshener.

looks like I am baking something not whipping up a carpet freshener

I googled and found a pretty easy recipe. It smelled a little like apple pie or a candle as Boo said. It was 1 cup baking soda, 1 cup corn starch, 1 tsp cloves and 2 tsp cinnamon. I mixed this all together stuck it in an old spaghetti jar poked holes in the top and sprinkled it on the carpet. The website I found the recipe on the lady said she let it sit over night. I decided to do the same thing.

Mason loved sprinkling on the carpet. He was allowed to be “messy”

After it sits you just vacuum it up! My carpet smelled yummy and the room no longer smelled like doggy.

So next time you need something just google it first you might be able to make it at home!
