My Chickens…
When we decided to have a second baby as soon as we found out it was going to be a girl we started using her name. So early on Mason would point to my tummy and say ” Baby Kyra”

I was not really sure how he would react to to a sibling but when she came he called her ” his baby”.

Sometimes she was not so sure about this.

But he loved her from the beginning.
For a while it was really hard having a 2 year old and a new baby… I know Mason felt the change, babies take up more time. But at least at the time daycare was a constant for him he had the same teachers and his little classmates. But that changed when I quit my job to stay home full time. The adjustments were hard for both of us. I was suddenly with a toddler and a baby all day and he was without his little playmates. He would get frustrated sometimes that Kyboo could not play with him, he would try talking to her and then ask me why she would not talk back. But as she grew they became closer. And in the past six months they have really interacted more and it’s been so neat to see them start to play together.

She adores her older brother she wants to do whatever he does. She dragged this chair over to sit right next to him.

It’s been so cute to see her try and be the little mommy to him when he cries or is sad she will rub his back and go “ohhh” it’s so sweet. Don’t get me wrong they fight and the sibling rivalry is really starting to crank up.

But I am so glad we have our Chickens……
and I am so glad they have each other….
Our 4th of July weekend…
Well we had a great 4th of July we decided to celebrate it with just our little family. We didn’t do anything extremely exciting but just being together was fun. It was the first year that Kyboo could really appreciate the fireworks and all the goings on. We all slept in and I fixed a yummy breakfast of home made sausage biscuits it beat Hardees’ any day! We went to see “Up” it was such a cute movie. It had enough adult humor to keep our attention and enough kids stuff to keep Chicken. Kyboo slept through most of the movie yeah!

After the movie we went to get some McDonald’s which I blame on one of my Twitter friends because he mentioned McD’s. The Chickens ate with gusto and played on the playground. It’s really neat to see Chicken and Kyboo play together so well.
After we gorged ourselves on yummy McD’s an American tradition we went home to vedge for a while. Watched some tv and the Chickens ate more healthy food..

donuts! This is Kyboo hamming it up. So after hanging out at home for a while we decided to brave downtown. There were so many people there we had to park way out but we found free parking which is hard to find when they are having events downtown. We ditched the stroller I put Kyboo in my sling Ben had Chicken and we headed out. We ended up having a lot of fun Kyboo was not quite sure what to think of all the people I think it’s the first time she has been in such a crowded area.

We got to see Mac Arnold perform I loved his music.
Then we saw some awesome fireworks downtown near the Reedy River. Chicken really liked them Kyboo was not scared but she was more interested in watching the other people’s reaction then watching the fireworks.
Then we finished the night at Sonic a regular hangout for the Moffets. Kyboo had just heard a firework go off and was a little dazed in this picture. All in all it was a great day!

Siblings….

For the longest time I told Ben that I only wanted one child…especially right after having one… I was not sure that I could take double the crying and diaper changing and getting up in the middle of the night. Then as Mason got older I was like ok when he is 4 then maybe we will try and have another one. But when he was 14 months old I got this wild hair and informed my honey that I thought we should have another one now. He did not agree, he pointed out that Mason was just now walking and starting to talk and sleeping through the night why would we want to mess up this good thing we had going?
I tried to point out the up side they would be close together they could play… He pointed out the lack of sleep having two in diapers not to mention the added daycare expense. I was working at the time and the cost of two in daycare can be quite staggering. So I said alright lets take a week and think about it.
When the week was out hubby and I compared notes. And we had not come to the same conclusion.. He completely surprised me by saying he thought we should go for it. My reaction was crap.. I had started to think about the ramifications of a second Chicken.. I remembered what it was like to be pregnant, the morning sickness the getting big. And this time it would be different I could not just come home from work plop my feet on the sofa and watch tv. I would have a toddler to take care of so I had come to the conclusion that any sane person would that we should wait. But the fact that Ben had completely done an about face really got me to thinking… so I was like ok .. and a month later I was pregnant with Chicken number Two.
And it was the best decision we have ever made. We all adore her and she is spoiled rotten. Mason loves her so much if he has a toy and she wants it 9 times out of 10 he will give it to her. He calls her his baby and gets excited every morning when we get her out of the crib… And she as you can see from the picture above she adores her big brother.. She tries to do every thing he does. And I am so glad that Mason has a sibling…..
Happy Father’s Day… Ben!

I just wanted to wish my wonderful husband and daddy to my Chickens a Happy Father’s Day.. We had such a wonderful day with you and I hope that you enjoyed it too. Just wanted to tell you how much I love you and how lucky the Chickens are to have such a great daddy… We love you!

Like my new earrings?

So Kyboo got her ears pierced today… I know that a lot of people do not agree on getting babies or toddlers ears pierced. I am not trying to debate that fact on this post. I am just sharing our experience every family has to decide what is right for their little ones. I for one was tired of people asking if Kyra was a boy.. I was just asked last month on our vacation to Atlanta. She was dressed from head to toe in purple (for Maddie) and we still got “oh he is so cute”. Ahhh. Another reason I decided to do it was because she was so young and I was hoping she would not mess with them. I got mine pierced when I was 8 and I kept touching them and they became all red and were very sore. So I asked my husband if I could get it done and he finally said “ok, but I can’t be there”. He can’t stand to hear his little girl cry.
So we decided today would be a good day to do it. Mason and Ben were going to a baseball game at the Greenville Drive. We dropped our boys off and headed to the mall. We decided to go to the Piercing Pagoda the two girls at the counter were very nice and very informative and I felt comfortable having them do it. They made over Kyboo saying what pretty eyes she had. I decided on small gold studs for Boo and white gold studs for me since I was planning to get my ears pierced too. I was not going to put Kyboo through the pain alone. I had to go for a third hole because I already have a second one.
So when it was our turn to sit in the chair I sat Kyboo in my lap. I got mine pierced first, and I have to say it hurt a lot less then any other piercing I have had after it was not even sore. Then it was Kyboo’s turn and yes she cried it was really hard for me when she did. But they gave her a lollipop and this is her happily crunching away a few minutes later.

She was such a trooper and did not even cry when I cleaned them before she went to bed, and she has not messed with them at all. When we picked our boys up Mason kept telling her that he liked her “new earrings”. And her Daddy thought she was awefully pretty! Now when I dress her from head to toe in purple people should say, ” What a cute little girl.” =-)
Can I help you paint Daddy?
So my husband, Ben, is an art director. And recently he has started to rediscover his love of painting and sketching. He really likes to paint on a big scale, whenever he does paint Mason usually drives Ben nuts by asking over and over again, ” Can I help Daddy? Can I help you paint?” Now we all know that you can’t “help” anyone paint but try telling that to a three year old.

So one Saturday Ben being the loving father that he is decided to finally let Mason “help”.

So he spread a cloth on the floor laid down a board dropped paint on it and let Mason have at it. Since Mason’s arms were so short he just ended up walking all over the board and got paint on him from head to toe it was hilarious to watch and Mason had a blast!

I have to say it did turned out pretty good and it’s hanging on our wall. I think they are planning some future collaborations. =-)
Enjoying a slushie naked.

Kyboo sitting in her Daddy’s lap enjoying a slushie. Why is she naked? This was after church and she was wearing a white dress sundress and the slushie was red!
